Spatial Planning
This project consists of a number of strands of activity, which will be pursued as part of the Central Border Area Spatial Planning Initiative. This initiative is aimed at providing a facilitated space for a major regional initiative addressing the need for a co-ordinated and agreed set of future investment priorities for the region as well as operational and working linkages which will promote greater collaboration in respect of land use and other planning in the region. This project is part-financed by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund through the INTERREG IVA Cross-Border Programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body Objectives The Central Border Area Spatial Planning Initiative is an integrated and innovative approach, which seeks to produce hard outcomes in respect of future INTERREG IVA investment in the ICBAN region, and also to ensure institutional commitment to the adoption of new working processes. It seeks to place economic regeneration activities in the same framework as land use on the basis that these need to be more clearly and formally interlinked in the region to ensure that the region can catch-up and avail of key opportunities while removing traditional barriers to progressive regional development which have existed in the region to date. This initiative will consist of the following key strands of activity: Strand 1: Establishment and maintenance of project implementation structures; Strand 2: Central Border Area Data Capture Project; Strand 3: Central Border Area Regional Vision Plan; Strand 4: Roads to Opportunity Business Case; Strand 5: Civic and Political Collaboration Programme; Strand 6: Publicity and Communications Strategy.
